Saturday, April 8, 2017

Join the Arcata Environmental Services Department and other community organizations as they care for Arcata's beautiful open spaces.

Plant Willow Sprigs and Tree Saplings Along Fickle Hill Creek on Saturday, April 8

The City of Arcata’s Environmental Services Department, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and AmeriCorps invite you to help plant native trees and willow sprigs along Fickle Hill Creek on Saturday, April 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will meet at 9 a.m. at the California Highway Patrol station parking lot at 255 Samoa Boulevard.

The willow sprigs, alder and Sitka spruce saplings the volunteers plant will eventually shade Fickle Hill Creek, increasing riparian vegetation along the stream and improving habitat for fish, migratory songbirds and other wildlife species in the area. Be sure to wear a long sleeve shirt, work pants and boots and bring rain gear and water. Gloves, tools, snacks and beverages will be provided. For more information please call 707-825-2163 or email eservices@cityofarcata.org.

Thank you for your interest in being an Arcata open space steward!
