  1. Arcata Marsh Amphitheater Dedication Ceremony & Talk with Wiyot Cultural Director & Tribal Chair Juwaksh Ted Hernandez

    July 6, 2018, 6:30 PM @ Arcata Marsh Amphitheater

    Friends of the Arcata Marsh (FOAM) is trilled to host this special event where members of the Wiyot Tribe will bless the Arcata Marsh and the marsh's outdoor amphitheater. Following the ceremony, guests will join Wiyot Tribe Cultural Director & Tribal Chair, Juwaksh Ted Hernandez, for a talk titled "The Wakening of Wiyot Dances & Ceremonies" that discusses how the Wiyot people were able to re-awaken their cultural ceremonies following the Wiyot Massacre of 1860. This event will take place at the Arcata Marsh amphitheater. To reach the amphitheater from the South G Street parking lot, walk past the Interpretive Center and continue walking forward until you find the amphitheater on the left. Due to limited seating, guests are encouraged to bring lightweight folding chairs. For more information, please call 707-826-2359.
