The City of Arcata is pleased to be participating in Humboldt County’s first Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Fair in partnership with the City of Eureka, Humboldt County, the Redwood Economic Development Commission and Planwest Partners. An ADU is a small house or housing unit that is secondary or “accessory” to a primary unit such as backyard cottages, basement apartments, carriage houses, attached in-law suites, garden suites, granny cottages, mother-in-law flats, garage apartments and tiny houses that include a foundation. ADU Fair attendees will have the opportunity to learn everything about financing, permitting, constructing and managing an ADU. Plus, City and County representatives will be on hand to discuss building opportunities and constraints with property owners pertaining to their specific properties. In addition, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy food, libations and fun activities for kids including a bounce house. For more information, visit humboldtadu.org.
