About the Board
The Boards of Permit Appeals was established in 1966 by the adoption of Ordinance No. 586 and the Board of Handicapped appeals in 1993 by the adoption of Ordinance 1204. Both were amended in 1999 by Ordinance 1292. The Boards primary function is to hear and act upon appeals and decisions made by the Building Official. The Board of Permit and Handicapped Appeals has powers and duties are outlined in Arcata Municipal Code sections 2223 – 2230.
