Redwood Pond (O Street) Housing
DANCO Communities has proposed an 18-unit affordable housing project at the former Reid and Write Lumber Mill off O Street. DANCO has secured a State Housing and Community Development (HCD) Infill Infrastructure Grant, is seeking Tax Credit funds, and has requested a loan from the City to build the project and provide affordable housing to low- and very low-income families in Arcata. The City considered this request at its May 21 and June 4, 2014 City Council meetings, and has agreed to work with DANCO and the State HCD to try to secure Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program Income (PI) to make the loan, if DANCO secures the tax credit financing to build the project. The process will require several steps and opportunities for public involvement.
