The City of Arcata is partnering with Humboldt Made to promote local businesses through the “Choose Humboldt” campaign and encourages you to shop local this holiday season and year round!
The Choose Humboldt campaign is a countywide collaboration between local chambers of commerce, cities, community partners and Humboldt Made. The campaign celebrates local makers, small businesses and community pride by encouraging residents and visitors to shop, dine, stay and experience Humboldt while strengthening the local economy.
The first phase of the countywide “Choose Humboldt” campaign is the Shop Humboldt Digital Passport Challenge. Through a free digital passport powered by VibeMap, participants can earn points by checking in at local businesses, leaving reviews and sharing photos. Each engagement earns points toward exclusive badges and local prizes, rewarding people for exploring and supporting Humboldt County’s small business community.
When community members shop, dine and explore close to home more money is kept within the community to help it grow stronger. For every locally spent dollar, $0.48 stays in the local economy compared to just $0.14 when shopping at national chains.
“Choosing local is one of the most powerful ways to invest in Arcata’s future,” said Alex Stillman, Mayor of Arcata. “Every dollar spent locally supports jobs, keeps money circulating here and sustains the creativity and character that makes Arcata unique.
