[ARCHIVED] Meet Arcata's Newest Councilmember, Brett Watson

Arcata City Councilmember Brett Watson

The Arcata City Council unanimously voted to appoint Brett Watson to the Council at a special candidate forum meeting on April 13. Watson will be sworn in at the City Council meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19.

There was one vacancy on the Arcata City Council following Mark Wheetley's resignation to become Fortuna's City Manager. The four current Councilmembers conducted a well-attended candidate forum to select a fifth Councilmember on Thursday, April 13. The forum was the first municipal meeting to utilize Facebook live.

Audience members submitted questions at the forum and via Facebook Live @cityofarcata, where the meeting video can be seen. People can also watch the forum video here and during re-airing on Access Humboldt/Suddenlink Cable Channel 10.

The special Council meeting agenda for this candidate forum, with complete candidate application forms and statements, is available here

Statements from all candidates who sought to fill the vacancy on the Arcata City Council are available for review
