Public Forum on the Arcata Wastewater Treatment Plant Draft Facility Plan

The City of Arcata Environmental Services and Engineering Departments will host a public information meeting regarding the Facility Plan for the Wastewater Treatment Plant on Thursday, March 30 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located at City Hall.  The forum will provide an opportunity to explain the process to the public and provide updates since the previous scoping and study sessions. It will also be an opportunity to receive comments on issues and evaluation criteria for alternatives.

In the 1980s, the City of Arcata made numerous improvements to the wastewater treatment system. However, in order to continue to protect Humboldt Bay, accommodate for planned growth, replace aging infrastructure, and meet new state permit requirements, it is necessary that the City plan for future wastewater system upgrades. The draft Wastewater Facility Plan defines the condition of the existing infrastructure and describes improvements and alternatives necessary to protect water resources for the next 40 to 50 years.
