The Arcata Police Department (APD) is excited to partner with the Arcata Fire District, the Humboldt State University Police Department (HSUPD) and California Highway Patrol (CHP) to host National Night Out for the second year.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships. By promoting partnerships between first responders and the people they serve, National Night Out events, which will be happening across the United States on Tuesday, August 6, serve to create safer neighborhoods.
“Our community is the foundation of why we exist. While the Arcata Police Department strives every day to further strengthen the bonds of trust and credibility that our community expects of their Police Department, National Night Out is an opportunity to re-new and restore relationships with community members that are absolutely essential in keeping all Arcata neighborhoods safe. Arcata and our region benefits from a tremendous spirit of collaboration amongst all public safety agencies including our partners at the District Attorney’s Office. We are honored that many of our colleagues could join us in Arcata as we all celebrate community,” said APD’s Chief of Police Brian Ahearn of the event.
National Night Out will take place on Tuesday, August 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Arcata Community Center, located at 321 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway.
Attendees will enjoy a complimentary barbecue, live music performed by Citizen Funk and Claire Bent, family-friendly activities and safety demonstrations by APD, Arcata Fire District, HSUPD and CHP. The event is free and all community members are welcome.
