The City of Arcata is seeking community members to apply for an open volunteer position on the Planning Commission.
Planning Commissioners work to develop plans and implement policies that affect Arcata’s growth and development. The decisions they make have a direct impact on Arcata’s future.
The Planning Commission has final authority regarding most City development plans, projects, and land use regulation, which makes their role vital to the community.
Important projects the Commission will have the opportunity to make decisions on this year include future housing and in-fill development plans throughout Arcata and the construction of the new Open Door Community Health Center.
Community members who wish to apply for a seat on the Planning Commission should have interest in learning all areas of City planning, development and historic preservation. Those with a background in Natural Resources or Environmental Compliance are strongly encouraged to apply.
Arcata City Council will be conducting Planning Commissioner interviews on Wednesday, March 4. All applications received by 5 p.m. on Monday, February 24, will be considered.
