Graphic with text reading "Call for Artists" and sharing general information

The City of Arcata is now seeking artist applications for a public art project in the downtown corridor!

The City of Arcata welcomes artists to apply for its first “Call for Artists” to paint fire hydrants along the G & H and Eighth & Ninth streets downtown corridor. The City has dedicated funding for artists’ commissions to paint fire hydrants in these corridors and create further connectivity between downtown Arcata, Cal Poly Humboldt and the Creamery District. Murals will be implemented in August and September of this year.

More information and the application materials can be found at https://www.cityofarcata.org/1028/2023-Call-For-Artists. Applications are due Wednesday, June 7. Artists will be chosen by a content review panel following criteria outlined in Arcata’s Strategic Arts Plan “Public Art Review Guidelines” and informed by the City’s recent public input survey.
