Assistance for parents struggling with strong-willed children and/or teens is also available through Juvenile Diversion. The Parent Project® and Loving Solutions®, both 10-week educational courses, are each offered once a year, and one-on-one coaching is available by request. When typical parenting tools and consequences don’t seem effective with your child it may be time to consider different strategies. We offer strategies to stop arguing with your child, improve academic performance and improve parent-child relationships.
The Parent Project® is a 10-week course on parenting a strong-willed teen engaging in destructive behaviors such as truancy, lying, curfew, poor grades, attitude, running away, negative peer groups, and violence. The Parent Project® is offered in conjunction with Northern Humboldt Unified School District.
Loving Solutions® is also a 10-week parenting course written by the same team that created the Parent Project®. It is designed for parents with strong-willed children under the age of 10. It focuses on reducing arguing with your children, reducing negative behavior such as back talk and aggression, and improving school performance and compliance with expectations and routines.
