Adopt-A-Park

The City of Arcata is dedicated to maintaining and providing safe and beautiful parks within the community. The Adopt-a-Park Program is designed to bring community members together with the City to enhance the overall quality, safety and beauty of parks in Arcata. There are over 25 locations where parks or park space exists in the City. Due to limited resources, City staff is often restricted in what they can do at each facility. But, working together, through the Adopt-a Park Program, we can capitalize on the energy, expertise and time available to enhance the already great parks and playgrounds in Arcata.

Becoming a Caretaker
When you volunteer to adopt a park, or a portion of one, you become its caretaker. Your efforts can be used to maintain, restore or beautify a park. The scope of the projects is limited only by your creativity and energy.

Become Involved with Adopt-a-Park

The first step is to identify a park site you or your group would like to adopt and determine the tasks you would like to complete. Then, submit a proposal form (PDF) to the parks office. Staff from the Parks Division will then contact you to meet and discuss your proposal. Once approved, volunteers must complete a City Day Volunteer Agreement waiver to participate. Then you are ready to go!
