Tenant-Based Rental Assistance

The Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program is no longer accepting wait list applicants as of May 31, 2019, and staff are working through applications already received.

The City of Arcata is working to obtain additional funding for the Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program, and will inform community members when the program waitlist will re-open.

If you have any questions, please contact Willa Darley Chapin in our Community Development Department at 707-825-2152.

The Tenant-Based Rental Assistance program is designed to assist low-income households with rent payments in the City of Arcata. This program also offers assistance covering the cost of security deposits and utility deposits. Once an applicant is approved, rental assistance is provided for one year and may be renewed depending on funding availability.

To qualify for the program, applicants must earn less than 60% of Humboldt County’s median income and provide all required documentation included in the application process. Priority will be given to seniors, age 55 and older, who currently reside in Arcata, in addition to unhoused families and individuals.
