Tenant-Based Rental Assistance
The City of Arcata has obtained additional funding for its Tenant-Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) Program. The Program is open to new applicants beginning 9:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022. To apply, please submit a completed Pre-Application via email to email@example.com.
If you are not able to complete the fillable PDF Pre-Application virtually, or if you do not have email, please print the form or pick up a copy from the Community Development counter at City Hall. Completed Pre-Applications can be dropped off in hard copy to the Community Development counter at City Hall (736 F Street) weekdays between 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The TBRA Program prioritizes seniors (ages 55 and up) as well as families and individuals experiencing houselessness. The waitlist for the Program is organized on a first-come, first-serve basis by the date and time that Pre-Applications are received (with seniors and applicants experiencing houselessness moved up). Pre-Applications will not be accepted following May 31, 2022, and and it is expected that more applications will be received than are able to be assisted.
The Tenant-Based Rental Assistance program is designed to assist low-income households with rent payments in the City of Arcata. This program also offers assistance covering the cost of security deposits and utility deposits to eligible households. More information regarding the application process, as well as information for landlords, is available in the attached flyer. Once an applicant is approved, rental assistance is provided for one year and may be renewed depending on funding availability.
To qualify for the program, applicants must earn less than 60% of Humboldt County’s median income and provide all required documentation included in the application process. More information regarding income limits can be found in the attached flyer.
