Press Release - April 2024
Join City of Arcata staff and community members to collaborate towards transportation safety improvements for all modes of travel along K and 11th Streets.
K and 11th Streets are vital travel corridors through downtown Arcata for walking, biking, driving and commerce, yet speeding and visibility for crossings and turning movements remain community concerns.
The City of Arcata will host a workshop focused on K and 11th Streets on Thursday, May 2 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Redwood Coast Montessori Arcata Campus (793 K Street). The workshop will build from community feedback on these street corridors received over the past couple years including during the summer 2023 walkability audit with nationally recognized active transportation expert, Dan Burden, and engagement through the Arcata Gateway Area Plan, 8th and 9th Street Improvement Project and the Local Road Safety Plan.
Community members are also welcome to complete an online survey here to provide ideas and input for potential enhancements on K and 11th Streets.
The workshop and survey are opportunities for community members and stakeholders to share their experience and consider potential safety improvements for walking, biking and driving along and across these streets. The City hopes to identify both priority improvements to implement in the short term as well as potential improvements that may require additional time and funding to implement.
