Water & Sewer


The City of Arcata provides water and sewer service for residents of the following locations:

  • Arcata
  • Jacoby Creek Water District
  • Pacific Manor (across from Mad River Community Hospital)

Apply for Service


To apply for water and sewer service, please fill out a Service Agreement (PDF) and return it with the deposit and service charge to the Finance Department at Arcata City Hall. Service Agreements can also be faxed to the Finance Department at 707-825-2008, sent by email, dropped in one of 3 drop-boxes (located in the front, rear, and inside City Hall), or brought to the cashier window in person. Please make sure a copy of a photo ID is included with the application as well as a valid phone number for any questions that may arise in processing the application.

The City of Arcata accepts the following forms of payments:

  • Check or Money orders
  • Visa or MasterCard

Payments may be made by the following methods:

  • Drop Boxes: Located in front of City Hall and in the back parking lot near the Library
  • In person: At Arcata City Hall
  • Mail: Please mail payment to the address listed to the right

  • Online: The City of Arcata accepts online payments

Senate Bill 998 - Discontinuation of Residential Water Service


Effective February 1, 2020, SB 998 requires urban and community water systems, public or private, to adopt a written discontinuation policy available in English, Spanish, Traditional Chinese, Tagalog, Vietnamese, and Korean languages.
