Valley West

The City of Arcata invites community members to learn about the Valley West Neighborhood Center Draft Assessment Report and tour potential sites for a future neighborhood center. With support from recent grant funding, the City of Arcata has been developing conceptual plans for a Valley West neighborhood center with a vision for creating a space for residents to engage in recreational and community activities. After several months of community engagement and site analysis, the City is excited to share the Draft Assessment Report and provide a walking tour of three possible sites for a future community center.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 11th at the Valley West Park. A walking tour of three possible sites will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., departing from the park. For those unable to join the tour, community members are welcome to stop by the park anytime between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. to learn more. Food will be provided for participants.

City staff will share the Draft Assessment Report and look forward to hearing your feedback to help shape the future of this important community space. For more information, please email Sara Channell at schannell@cityofarcata.org or call (707) 825-4876.

The City of Arcata invites the community to help shape the future of the Valley West Community Center by attending one of two visioning sessions.

Building on previous community conversations, these sessions are an opportunity for residents, especially those in the Valley West community, to share their ideas and vision for creating a community center that meets local needs. The input gathered will guide the Community Center’s physical development and inform what services it will provide.

The visioning sessions will take place on Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Valley West Resilience Center (Formerly Woodsman Hall), located at 4700 Valley East Blvd. The first session will be held in English from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. and the second in Spanish from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend, and childcare will be provided.

Valley West Community Center Survey

The City of Arcata invites the community to share their input and participate in the Valley West Community Center Survey!

Building on previous community conversations, this quick survey is an opportunity for people who live and work in Arcata, especially the Valley West community, to share their opinions on the development of a community center in the Valley West area. The information gathered will be used to inform the physical development of the center and the services offered there.

The survey can be completed in either English or Spanish, and all survey participants can choose to be entered into a raffle to win one of three gift cards!

Please complete the survey before Friday, Jan. 24. Surveys are available for pickup or submission at Arcata City Hall, located at 736 F Street, Arcata, CA 95521. Residents can also fill out the survey online.
